How do I scan an ingredient label?

Open the app and point your camera at any ingredient list on a food package. Tap the capture button, and DirektLabel will analyze the ingredients and provide a processing score within seconds.

What do the scores mean?

DirektLabel uses a 1-10 scoring system based on the NOVA food classification:

  • 9-10: Whole foods (fresh fruits, vegetables, raw nuts)
  • 7-8: Minimally processed (plain yogurt, frozen vegetables)
  • 4-6: Processed (cheese, canned beans, simple bread)
  • 1-3: Ultra-processed (most packaged snacks, sodas)

🌍 Multi-Language Support

What languages can DirektLabel read?

DirektLabel can scan ingredient labels in over 100 languages, including:

  • English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese
  • Chinese (Simplified and Traditional)
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • And many more Latin-script languages

Simply scan the label in any supported language, and the analysis will be provided in English.

How do I subscribe?

Go to Settings in the app and tap "Upgrade to Pro." You can choose between monthly and yearly subscription options. Payment is processed securely through Google Play.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription anytime through the Google Play Store:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app
  2. Tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions
  3. Find DirektLabel and tap "Cancel subscription"

You'll continue to have Pro access until the end of your current billing period.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Simply install DirektLabel and sign in with the same Google account you used for the original purchase. Your Pro subscription will be automatically restored. You can also tap "Restore Purchases" in Settings.

🔧 Troubleshooting

The app isn't recognizing my ingredient label

  • Ensure good lighting - avoid shadows on the label
  • Hold the camera steady and make sure the text is in focus
  • Try to capture just the ingredient list, not the entire package
  • Make sure the text is not too small or too blurry

The analysis seems incorrect

While our AI strives for accuracy, it may occasionally misinterpret ingredients. If you notice an error, please contact us with a photo of the label so we can improve our system.

The app is running slowly

  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection (required for AI analysis)
  • Try closing and reopening the app
  • Make sure your device has sufficient storage space
  • Update to the latest version of the app

📊 Data & Privacy

Where is my scan history stored?

All your scan history is stored locally on your device. We do not upload your scan history to our servers.

How do I delete my scan history?

Go to Settings and tap "Clear History" to delete all saved scans. You can also delete individual scans by tapping on them in your History and selecting delete.

What data is sent to your servers?

When you scan a label, only the extracted text (ingredient list) is sent to our AI service for analysis. We do not store this data or associate it with your identity. For full details, please read our Privacy Policy.
